Maltby and Company was founded by Freeman E. Maltby in 1949, based on an entrepreneurial spirit and a love of trees and the outdoors. Since its’ inception, Maltby has continually sought innovative ways to grow the tree business from a labor intensive industry to a mechanized industry – saving time, money and labor costs for clients – and, more importantly – improving the safety of employees. Our continual focus on providing quality service, pursuing new opportunities, and developing and implementing industry innovations has been well rewarded with generations of loyal clients and employees.

Today, Maltby serves families, businesses and municipalities throughout New England’s diverse landscape. We are actively involved with the philanthropic initiatives of the communities in which our clients live and work such as The Boston Public Gardens, The Boston Common, Arnold Arboretum, Franklin Park, and many others.
