Community Service and Philanthropic Initiatives
Maltby and Company has supported community organizations and philanthropic initiatives for over 60 years. Our Founder, Freeman Maltby, was a lifelong member of the Stoughton Rotary Club and his son Bob Maltby has been a member for over 15 years. Bob is also a Freemason.
For over 30 years, since its inception, Maltby and Company has been a major supporter of Arbor Day in Massachusetts. Traditionally, the entire Company is put to work donating labor and equipment for locations like The Dimock Hospital in Roxbury, Franklin Park, Trustees of Reservations Properties and numerous public parks that would not normally be in a position to fund extensive tree work projects. All family employees and the entire company participate in Arbor Day initiatives.
Maltby is also a major supporter of the Stockbridge School of Arboriculture, an active member of the Massachusetts Tree Wardens Association and has traditionally participated in erecting the Nova Scotia Celebration Tree on Boston Common.
Maltby was one of the first on the Board of Safety Saves, a Massachusetts Arborists Association committee dedicated to the implementation of new and stricter safety standards for the tree industry. Maltby has also participated in writing industry guidelines for OSHA in Washington, DC. The company is also a member of several other community and industry associations including:
- Massachusetts Arbor Association
- Tree Care Industry Association
- International Society of Arboriculture
- Massachusetts Association of Landscape Professionals
- Better Business Bureau
